Scorpio N review 2025

The Mahindra Scorpio N, launched in 2022, is a bold evolution of the iconic Scorpio, blending ruggedness with modern features. Priced between ₹13.99 lakh and ₹25.15 lakh (ex-showroom), it competes with SUVs like the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus. With a commanding road presence, versatile powertrains, and a feature-rich cabin, it’s a compelling choice for families and adventure enthusiasts, though it has some shortcomings.Design and Build: The Scorpio N sports a muscular, modern design with a signature Mahindra grille, sleek LED headlamps, and scorpion-sting-inspired fog lamps. Its larger dimensions (4,662 mm long, 1,917 mm wide) enhance its imposing stance, while seven color options, including Deep Forest and Red Rage, add flair. The Carbon Edition, with blacked-out alloys and grille, elevates its appeal. Built on a ladder-frame chassis, it offers 187 mm ground clearance and a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, ensuring durability and safety. However, the rear design feels bland compared to the bold front.Interior and Comfort: The cabin is a significant upgrade, featuring a premium coffee-black or all-black theme with leatherette upholstery. The 8-inch touchscreen with AdrenoX OS, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Alexa integration is intuitive, though the screen’s brightness and graphics could improve. A 12-speaker Sony sound system, dual-zone climate control, and a sunroof add luxury. The front and second rows offer ample space and comfort, but the third row is cramped, best suited for children. Fit-and-finish issues, like scratchy plastics, persist in some areas.Performance and Handling: The Scorpio N offers two engines: a 2.0L turbo-petrol (200 hp, 380 Nm) and a 2.2L diesel (130 hp/300 Nm or 172 hp/400 Nm). Both pair with a 6-speed manual or automatic, with optional 4WD on higher diesel trims. The petrol is punchy, ideal for enthusiasts, while the diesel excels in torque for highway cruising and off-roading. Ride quality is smooth, with refined suspension minimizing bounciness, though body roll is noticeable at high speeds. Light steering and a commanding driving position make city driving easy, but high-speed stability could be better.Pros and Cons: Strengths include strong road presence, powerful engines, off-road capability, and value for money. However, limited third-row space, inconsistent cabin quality, and average fuel efficiency (14-14.6 kmpl) are drawbacks. The absence of a 360° camera and advanced driver-assistance systems in lower trims is a miss.Verdict: The Mahindra Scorpio N is a versatile SUV that balances rugged charm with modern comforts. It’s ideal for those seeking a powerful, spacious, and adventure-ready vehicle, but buyers needing premium fit or third-row usability might look elsewhere.
