Toyota Fortuner Legender Review 2025

The Toyota Fortuner Legender, a premium variant of the iconic Fortuner SUV, has carved a niche in India’s luxury SUV segment since its 2021 debut. Priced between ₹44.51 lakh and ₹50.09 lakh (ex-showroom), it combines rugged capability, bold styling, and Toyota’s renowned reliability, making it a favorite among SUV enthusiasts.Exterior and Design: The Legender stands out with a sportier, more aggressive stance compared to the standard Fortuner. Its split quad-LED headlamps with waterfall LED DRLs, sequential turn indicators, and catamaran-style bumpers lend a premium yet rugged appeal. The 18-inch machine-cut alloy wheels enhance its commanding road presence, though the single pearl white with black roof color option may feel restrictive for some. Gloss black accents replace chrome, adding sophistication, but the matte black roof wrap has been criticized for inconsistent edges.Interior and Comfort: Inside, the Legender offers a spacious, ergonomic cabin with a dual-tone black and maroon theme, premium leather upholstery, and contrast stitching. The front seats are ventilated and supportive, ideal for long drives, while the second row offers ample space with slide and recline functions. However, the third row is best suited for short trips, and ingress/egress can be challenging for elderly passengers. Features like an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless charging, a powered tailgate, and dual-zone climate control add convenience, but the absence of a sunroof and dated plastics in some areas disappoint at this price point.Performance and Handling: Powered by a 2.8-liter diesel engine producing 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic, the Legender delivers robust performance. It excels in city traffic and highway overtakes, with smooth gear shifts and responsive throttle. The mild-hybrid option (introduced in 2025) enhances efficiency, though fuel economy ranges from 10-14.4 kmpl. Its ladder-on-frame chassis ensures off-road prowess, especially in the 4x4 variant, but the ride is firm at low speeds, with noticeable body roll in corners.Safety and Features: Safety is a strong suit, with seven airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, hill assist, and ISOFIX mounts. It earned a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating, though the lack of ADAS features like adaptive cruise control is a drawback.Verdict: The Fortuner Legender is a compelling choice for buyers seeking a stylish, reliable, and powerful SUV with excellent resale value and Toyota’s hassle-free ownership experience. However, its premium pricing, limited color options, and missing modern features may push some toward rivals like the MG Gloster or luxury alternatives.
